Sustainability Stories
Park City Mountain and Vail Resorts have made significant progress toward our sustainability goal of reaching a zero net operating footprint by 2030. As part of Vail Resorts Commitment to Zero, in October 2022, we kicked off the groundbreaking Elektron Solar Project, a new solar farm outside Salt Lake City. This investment will provide renewable energy for 100 percent of Park City Mountain’s electric usage in 2023.

As part of Commitment to Zero, we’ve committed $25 million in energy-efficiency investments across our resorts, with a focus on snowmaking, buildings, and lifts. Energy efficiency is a key strategy in reducing the emissions associated with our operations.  The snowmaking department is focused on operating the snowmaking system as efficiently as possible, which involves only making snow during optimal temperatures and investing in new low-energy snowmaking equipment. We continuously monitor all points of our operation to ensure we are operating efficiently. Park City Mountain snowmaking system currently operates with approximately 70% low-e guns.

The Guest Experience
Park City Mountain is committed to prioritizing the mountain experience for guests with our expansive terrain, world-class ski and snowboard school, and on-mountain dining experiences. New this season, daily lift ticket sales are being limited to further prioritize the guest experience. Guests can also expect more normal indoor operations in the 2022-23 season as no face coverings, vaccines or dining reservations will be required.
